CMtCL Project | Black Irish > CMtCL Project > History HistoryIt all began with anOrgy®. Twice a yearWHRB 95.3, Harvard College radio, organizes music marathons called Orgies®. On January 11, 2001, Adrienne Shapiro organized a Celtic-music Orgy® featuring music from Celtic revivalists (Chieftains, De Dannan, Planxty, Bothy Band), Welsh/Manx/Cornish music, Scottish and Cape Breton music, a musical tour of Ireland, Breton music, and some modern music. Her broadcast lasted 11 hours and consisted roughly of 3 hours of Irish music, 3 of Scottish, 1 of Welsh, Cornish, and Manx, 1 of Breton, 2 of Celtic Revival, and 2 of a mix of everything. On May 26, 2002, Kit organized a second Orgy® which focused on Celtic music through the Celtic languages themselves. It was also 11 hours. Though the musical styles varied, the languages used in them were all Celtic. |
